I have been doing a lot of research on building a telescope - a classic 6" f/8 Newtonian reflector. I will be grinding my own mirror (it has been a long-held ambition to do this) so I have just ordered a mirror-grinding kit. I will be posting pictures of the project here so watch this space.
I have no idea when I will finish this project. I have enough things to do already so I am not expecting to get very far, very fast. I hope to have it complete for the Autumn. Time will tell.
I don't intend to use this scope for satellite observing, but for my "other" interest in observing variable stars, where the extra aperture will be useful. Mind you, with some faint objects I have found problems finding them so it would be interesting to see if I can use a 6-inch telescope to track faint satellites, for example geosynchronous objects.

I am going to ~make~ a telescope.
Take your spam elsewhere thanks.
